The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will host its club assembly from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The cost for lunch is $15.
Group to discuss how to write smarter
Writers and Scribblers will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday at Pine River Valley Bank, 1701 Main Ave.
“Write Smarter: An Introduction to Scrivener” will be presented by Evie Bromiley. Guests are welcome.
Chicken barbecue is planned June 13
The Allison Community Presbyterian Church will host a chicken barbecue from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 13 at the Allison church.
The cost for adults is $10, children ages 6 to 12 are $4, and children 5 and younger are free. The menu will include barbecue chicken, beans, coleslaw, relish, homemade cinnamon rolls and rolls. Tickets will be available at the door.

Mac N Cheese Fest volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed for the Mac N Cheese Fest on June 13.
Volunteers will receive free entry into part of the event. Positions include mac and cheese or beer servers, security or clean-up. Proceeds will benefit United Way of Southwest Colorado.

Dolores, Mancos offer free quilting
The Mancos Public Library with the Dolores Mountain Quilters will offer a free quilting workshop from 12:30 to 3 p.m. June 16 at the library, 211 West First St.
Instructor Kathy Sehnert will lead this session to make “Cathedral Window” quilt blocks.
In the workshop, people will make a sample block and review instructions for using the block for a boudoir pillow. This block is easily hand sewn but also can be made using a machine.
Participants may bring their sewing machines. White “Kona” muslin for the background and colored fabrics scraps will be available for the sample, or people may bring fabrics of their choice. Participants should bring needle, thread, thimble, scissors, pencil or fabric marker and ruler or seam gauge. Teens are welcome, and children younger than 13 can join with an adult.
