La Plata County moves a few offices
La Plata County will move these offices from the La Plata County Courthouse across the street to the new County Administration Building, 1101 East Second Ave.:
Board of County Commissioners office and meeting rooms.
Assessor’s Office.
Administration Department.
Finance Department.
Procurement Department.
The above offices will be closed to the public Friday.
The Assessor’s Office will open at 8 a.m. June 15 in its new office on the bottom floor of the County Administration Building (Suite A).
The commissioner’s office, finance, administration and procurement departments will open at 8 a.m. June 16 in their new office spaces on the main floor of the County Administration Building.
County commissioners will hold their first meeting in the new building at 10 a.m. June 16 in Room E103.
An open house for the new County Administration Building will be scheduled in July for the public to visit the new facility.

Pine River Library takes films outdoors
The Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, will host several outdoor movies this summer beginning June 13.
This year’s program will feature a Flag Day ceremony at the kickoff event at 7:30 p.m. June 13. The ceremony will be followed by a screening of “Sponge Bob: Out of Water.” The movie will start at dusk. Free popcorn is provided, and the Friends of the Library will be selling other snacks and drinks.
Three other outdoor movie nights are planned, including: “Goonies” on June 27, “Ghostbusters” on July 11 and “Home” on Aug. 1.

LPEA to host annual golf tournament
La Plata Electric Association will host its annual golf tournament June 20 at the Pagosa Springs Golf Course.
Space is limited, and the registration deadline is June 17.
The golf tournament is open to all community members and will benefit the Darin Rome Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund, which remembers Rome, a musician and journeyman lineman with LPEA, supports aspiring music students.
The tournament is a four-person scramble, with four flights beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, rain or shine. Entry fee is $65 per person, which includes lunch, golf cart, prizes and more. The field will be limited to 36 teams. Hole sponsorships are available for $150, $500 and $1,000, and independent donations are welcome. Cash or checks will be accepted.

Free guided nature walks at Purgatory
San Juan Mountains Association will lead free guided nature walks from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Thursday at Purgatory Resort beginning Tuesday and continuing through Aug. 20.
Registration is not needed. Participants should meet at the ticket office. A free scenic chairlift ride is included.
