Colorado Legal Services and Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid will present a free clinic for filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday.

The clinic, open to low-income debtors who qualify, will walk participants through every step of the filing process and provide documents necessary to file for bankruptcy.

Beekeepers to hear about packaged hives

Southern Colorado Beekeepers monthly gathering will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at 6660 County Road 510, Bayfield.

Participants should bring their own meal. Topics will include what is happening now in newly packaged beehives, treating and feeding.

Spruce-beetle infestation discussed

The Dolores Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest will hold a public meeting on the spruce beetle infestation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dolores Public Lands Office, 29211 Highway 184, in Dolores.

The meeting will also focus on other insect and disease threats to high-elevation forests and management options to respond to these issues.

Members of the public are encouraged to ask questions and share their concerns.

Tom Eager, a U.S. Forest Service insect and disease expert, will explain the biology of the spruce beetle, how it spreads and the level of infestation.

The Forest Service will have maps showing areas of recent beetle activity and areas where treatments could be undertaken in response to current insects and disease, as well as areas where treatment could potentially lessen the threat of future outbreaks.

Dog-training classes scheduled at center

Dog training classes will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays on June 30, July 7, July 14 and July 21 at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

The classes will be taught by instructor Traci Moriarty.

Participants will learn basic obedience, commands as well as a few other skills. The cost is $20.

Marvel Grange to host picnic Friday

The Marvel Grange will host a community picnic at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 8097 County Road 100, Hesperus.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided as well as fixings and beverages. Participants should bring their own table service and a side dish. Everyone is welcome.

Road Runner to mark holiday

Road Runner Transportation will not operate on July 3 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Regular services will resume on July 6.
