Main Avenue mobility draft plan available
The city of Durango has released a draft North Main Avenue Corridor Mobility Plan for public review.
The plan provides an analysis of the corridor’s existing conditions and points to areas where infrastructure improvements could increase pedestrian and bicycle connections to adjacent neighborhoods, businesses and community amenities.
The plan emphasizes making the corridor more accessible for all different modes of transportation. The plan also presents concepts for the redesign of three major intersections in the north Main Avenue corridor.
The city, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, is planning to use the recommendations in the plan to guide the design and construction of improvements that could take place as soon as 2016.
The city is encouraging interested citizens to review the draft plan and provide comments. The plan is available at www.durangogov.org/northmain. Also, there is a short survey at the City’s Virtual City Hall regarding the recommendations in the plan.
The public comment period will run until July 17.
