The annual TARA (Tiffany, Allison, Rosa, Arboles) Treasure Trail Yard Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25.

Yard sales will be set up in Tiffany, Allison and Arboles. Participants can pick up a yard sale location map at any stop.

The event will include a scavenger hunt featuring historical sites and a play poker run, where participants will collect a card at each location. The cards should be turned in by 1 p.m. to the community center, 333 Milton Lane, where a prize will be awarded to the best hand.

Goodies will be for sale at historic locations as a fundraiser for TARA Historical Society.

Haircuts to benefit Special Olympics

“Short-Cuts for Love” will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. July 25 at 6th Street Hair Salon, 115 West College Drive.

A minimum $10 donation will be accepted for a short haircut by a professional hairstylist. All proceeds will benefit Durango Special Olympics softball program for travel to Grand Junction for a regional tournament in August. The event is first-come, first-serve.

Music in Mountains to host tailgate party

The second annual Music in the Mountains “Baroque and Beyond” Tailgate Party will take place at 5:30 p.m. July 28 in Viles Park across from St. Columba Catholic Church, 1800 East Second Ave.

Participants should bring tables, chairs or blankets and food. There will be a cash bar. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Six concert tickets to the 2016 Music in the Mountains Festival will be awarded to each of four categories for the best picnic decorations/set-up.

Computer workshop to teach basic skills

The Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave., will offer a computer workshop with Jon Cordalis, The Computer Tutor, from 9 a.m. to noon July 30.

The workshop will be “Technology 102.” In this class, participants will explore current technology with tips on email, the Internet, buying and selling online, digital photographs and safe computing. Topics related to these activities will be discussed. Students must register and pay $15 in advance.

Hour Exchange La Plata, the local time bank, invites the public to a free introductory talk and software orientation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave.

People considering joining the time bank should bring a laptop (preferable) or mobile device for the orientation.
