The Colorado Department of Human Services will conduct a series of town-hall meetings to solicit feedback, comments and suggestions to help inform the direction of the department and priorities for the coming year.
A Summer Planning Session will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This forum will be accessible to all people. Auxiliary aids and services such as sign-language interpreters, CART services, language-interpretation services, materials in braille or large print and FM systems may be provided upon request.

‘Thru-hiking the Continental Divide’
Dustin Partridge will give a slideshow presentation titled “Thru-Hiking the Continental Divide Trail” at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Mancos Public Library, 211 West First St.
This is the fifth program in the library’s series “Life Is An Adventure.” Join Mancos resident and owner of Zuma Natural Foods for a slideshow presentation about the adventures of hiking more than 3,000 miles on the Continental Divide Trail through five states.

Discuss vermiculture with coffee, compost
“Vermiculture: Worming for Beginners” with Jennaye Derge will be offered at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive.
Derge is a vermiculture specialist with Durango Compost Co. The business started after Tim Wheeler, owner of Durango Coffee Co., wanted to use worms to compost his used coffee grounds. Wheeler now serves as part owner of Durango Compost Co.
This hands-on class is free and open to the public.
