Wolfwood Refuge will have an ambassador wolf from the refuge during Durango’s Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Four Leaves Winery, 528 Main Ave.
Four Leaves will feature select, handcrafted red and white wines for purchase. Each bottle is decorated with artwork of animals that call Wolfwood home. A $7 donation is made by Four Leaves Winery for each bottle sold. When customers purchase four bottles of wine, they will receive two Wolfwood wine glasses.
Also featured will be the art of Edward Aldrich, Kelly Black, Mimi Bonkowske, Laura Bruzzese, Peggy Cloy, Rebecca Koeppen, Juanita Melendez, Crystal Hartman, Joyce Heuman, Pat Howard, Bradley Kachnowicz, Melanie Kirkpatrick, Rhonda Polsfut, Janice Reich, Susan Reed, Hannah Shook, Ann Smith and Claude Steelman. The artists donated their work for Wolfwood Refuge’s fourth annual Art Auction to be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Lost Dog Bar & Grill, 1150 Main Ave.
The art will remain on display at Four Leaves Winery for a week of public viewing in advance of the live auction.
During the Art Walk, representatives from Wolfwood will be on hand to answer questions about the refuge and sell tickets for the upcoming art auction.

Reconstruction work continues in city
Four Corners Materials will continue street reconstruction and paving work from Tuesday to Sept. 11.
Work will take place at these locations:
14th Street, from Main Avenue to East Third Avenue.
Molas Drive.
Leeder Construction will begin alley reconstruction work Sept. 8 behind the Durango Police Department. Parking on these streets will be restricted for the duration of the project work. Temporary no-parking signs will be posted in designated street work zones for no-parking dates and times. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes in these areas when possible because of lane restrictions and construction equipment in the road. All work is subject to change because of rain or other unforeseeable events.

Dogster’s to host silent auction
Dogster’s Spay and Neuter Program (D-Snip) will host a silent auction that will benefit affordable spay and neuter in the Four Corners from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children younger than 10 and include dinner, drink and dessert. There will be a silent auction with items donated by many local businesses. All proceeds will benefit Dogster’s Spay and Neuter Program.
D-Snip provides spay/neuter education and affordable spay/neuter services. The group also provides emergency veterinary and foster care for animals in need on a case-by-case basis.

Trails 2000 officially will open Sugar Trail
Trails 2000 announces the grand opening of the new Sugar Trail at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
People are invited to view the recently completed trail, a 1.5-mile, multiuse connector trail from Skyline to Horse Gulch road. Members of the Trails 2000 board of directors, trail designer Daryl Crites, city staff and executive director Mary Monroe Brown will meet community members at the Horse Gulch Trailhead and mountain bike up the road to the trail for an out-and-back ride on the Sugar Trail. The trail, named Sugar as an acronym for Skyline to Horse Gulch Road, or SHGR, will be part of the route during the inaugural Todd and Ned’s Durango Dirt Fondo on Sept. 12.
Trails 2000 is a beneficiary of the event, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, coinciding with Trails 2000’s 25th anniversary this year.

Local senior center to offer dog training
The Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave., will offer dog training – learning to wait at the door, not jumping on guests, leave it, no counter surfing, learning to say hello to children and staying in place while people are eating.
The cost for this four-session class is $20. The class will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 1, 15, 22 and 29.
