The Old Fort Farm Stand will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday outside the Fort Lewis College Student Union Building.
The stand will offer: kale, chard, radishes, carrots, red beets, peppers, onions, rainbow potatoes, Anaheim green chilies, Pueblo chilies, collards, pumpkins, delicate squash, acorn squash, turnips, garlic heads, basil, flat leaf parsley, dill, basil pesto, arugula pesto, dehydrated onions, zucchini bread, roasted Poblano chilies, yellow pepper rings, roasted Anaheim and pueblo green chilies, grass fed beef and local pork.

Craft fair spaces still available for Nov. 14
The “Curing Cancer with Crafts” craft fair will be held on Nov. 14 at Ignacio High School.
Spaces are available for $10 a space.

State GOP Women meet beginning Friday
Durango was chosen as the Colorado location for this year’s state Republican Women’s Convention.
National Federation of Republican Women President Carrie Almond and First Vice President Becky Johnson will speak to Colorado Republican Women beginning Saturday. The convention will begin with an opening reception at 5 p.m. Friday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave., and will end Sunday with brunch at the Strater.

Scarecrows sought from area nonprofits
Durango Nursery and Supply invites nonprofits and other clubs to enter and make a scarecrow for its Harvest Festival to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 24.
The scarecrow with the most votes will receive a $250 gift certificate, and all participating groups will share proceeds from the day’s events.

Gena Rych Memorial run to be held Sunday
The Gena Rych Memorial 5K will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday at Animas Surgical Hospital, 575 Rivergate Lane.
The race will take place along the Animas River Trail to Santa Rita Park and back.

Wool Fest happens Saturday at museum
The second annual Wool Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave.
Participants will watch spinners work wool into yarn. Shop for wool products, yarn, fleece, gift items and art work from local artists. Visit with local wool growers and meet members of their flocks including traditional Navajo churro sheep. At 11 a.m., there will be a demonstration of natural dye techniques using local flora and fauna to create colors. At noon, the Ballet Folkorico de Durango will perform traditional dances. At 1 p.m., Ruth Lambert will give a presentation about the Hispano herding tradition along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway.

Quilters guild to meet, host a trunk show
The La Plata Quilters Guild will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road.
The guild will host its own trunk show. Participants should bring their creations, large or small, to share with the group.
