Bethany McManus will teach “Introduction to Quickbooks” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Durango Public Library’s training room, 1900 East Third Ave.

Botanical society to host bulb sale
Durango Botanical Society will hold its fifth annual bulb sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Mike Smedley, banker, bulb expert and local humorist, will speak from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., relating his personal experiences about creating a beautiful garden environment from bulbs in Durango while fending off local critters. Participants will have the opportunity to choose from 50 varieties of bulbs, some dating back to the 16th century, that will flourish in this area. The society publishes the Guide to Spring Bulb Planting that will be available with every purchase. Experts will be available to answer questions. Proceeds from this sale support the development and maintenance of public gardens in the community.
Resolving allergies to be discussed
Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss Resolving Food Sensitivities, Sinusitis and Seasonal Allergies, using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics – a safe, noninvasive treatment to resolve allergy symptoms. The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 1 of the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Free Zumba class to be held Saturday
The public is invited to attend a free class to celebrate instructor Donna Middleton’s one year anniversary of teaching Zumba from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Core Value Fitness Center, 208 East Animas Road (County Road 250).
Zumba is a form of dance-fitness that combines music and movement from all over the world. No reservations are needed, and no dance experience is required. Men, women and teenagers are welcome. A raffle will include a five-punch pass, music CD’s, clothing and accessories. A light snack will be served after class.

Road Runner closed for holiday
Road Runner Transit Services will not operate Monday in observance of Cultural Diversity Day in Ignacio.
Regular services will resume on Tuesday. This includes the Dial A Ride service.
Bear study to be discussed Tuesday
Heather Johnson PhD, wildlife researcher for Colorado Parks and Wildlife and faculty affiliate of Colorado State University, will speak on her research on bears in Durango to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Starting in 2011, Colorado Parks and Wildlife initiated a landmark study on the influence of human development on bear behavior and to test management strategies to reduce bear-human conflicts. Most data is being collected in the Durango area. Johnson will speak on how data is collected and some findings about Durango’s largest carnivore. Visitors are welcome.
