The Bayfield Marshal’s Office will offer Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Bayfield Marshal’s Office, 1199 Bayfield Parkway.

The event aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means for people to dispose of prescription drugs while educating them about the potential for abuse of medications.

The Marshal’s Office can accept only pills and patches; it cannot accept liquids or needles. This service is free and anonymous.

Sunshine Gardens 32nd Street Assisted Living will present Halloween Trick-or-Treat from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at 25 Sunshine Court.

The facility will have safe indoor trick-or-treating ideal for younger children accompanied by an adult.

Housing group to offer homebuyer education

The Regional Housing Alliance of La Plata County offers a free monthly homebuyer education class.

The class is an eight-hour program designed to help participants purchase a home.

Topics include: buyer readiness, budgeting and financial management, credit reports and scoring, mortgage lending, working with a real estate agent, homeowner’s insurance, home inspections, the closing process, home maintenance and foreclosure prevention.

The class is facilitated by the housing alliance with contributions from local professionals such as loan officers, real estate agents and insurance agents who teach participants about their specific field of expertise.

The November class will be held in three sessions on Tuesdays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17.

Falconry presentation set for Ignacio library

The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio, will offer a falconry presentation at 11 a.m. Nov. 7.

Pat Jackson will be at the library with her falcon, offering kids and families the opportunity to hear about falconry.

The Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., will host “Coloring for Grown-ups!” from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 6.
