The Southwest Center for Independence, a local nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live well in the community, will host its Thankful Potluck for consumers and community members from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Christmas tree lot seeking volunteers

San Juan Mountains Association is seeking volunteers to help with the Silver Bells Christmas Tree Lot, which will be open from Nov. 27 to Dec. 23, at the corner of Camino del Rio and College Drive.

Light- and heavy-duty volunteers are needed to help sell trees. Many slots are available, but heavy-duty volunteers are especially needed.

Museum to host Christmas bazaar

The Animas Museum’s annual Old Fashioned Christmas Bazaar will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5.

Vendors will fill the museum with their handcrafted items. The museum is at 3065 West Second Ave.

Class to teach natural body care

A Holiday DIY Natural Body Care Class with Nicole Mosher will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Durango Natural Foods Coop, 575 East 8th Ave.

Advance registration is required and can be done with a co-op cashier. The cost is $17 for co-op members and $20 for nonmembers.

Participants will learn to blend their own lotion, sunscreen, lip balm and toothpaste using all-natural products.

Mosher will discuss other clean body-care product ideas. Quality and organic supplies will be included.

People will take home a lotion or sunscreen sample as well as recipes. There will be an opportunity to sample other custom products of Mosher’s. Participants are asked to bring small containers for the take-home items.

Class to address spiritual issues

A class called “Introduction to Living in Freedom Beyond Space & Time” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Holiday Inn and Suites, 21636 U.S. Highway 160 west.

During this presentation, people will explore their past, present and future and travel through zones of consciousness; understand that there is no death; hear how to meet and communicate with spirit guides/angels to live a person’s purpose; and learn how people can free themselves of energy that is not theirs. The cost is $15

A program called “Trance Healing for the Public” will take place at 8 p.m. The cost for a personal trance healing session is $20. There is no fee to observe.

The program will be presented by Dorinda Fox from New Mexico and local certified spiritual educators Judy Katzin and Jo C. Soignier.
