The Center of Southwest Studies and the Fort Lewis College Office of the President will host Center of Southwest Studies director candidates’ public presentations.
A meet-and-greet reception will immediately follow each hourlong talk, with time allowed for questions. All presentations will take place in the center’s Lyceum Room, No. 120. Candidate Shelby Tisdale will present at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Candidate Shawn Collins will present at 11:10 a.m. Dec. 2. Free parking will be offered for each presentation and reception in the lot just north of the Center of Southwest Studies building.
LPEA to conduct helicopter flyover
La Plata Electric Association will conduct a helicopter flyover/aerial inspection of LPEA’s transmission assets in the Animas Valley and the city of Durango on Tuesday, weather permitting.
The effort is as part of LPEA’s ongoing maintenance to ensure equipment is in good repair. The helicopter inspection is will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the flight will follow the large transmission lines through the city of Durango, north through the Animas Valley to the La Plata County border near Cascade.

Thanksgiving worship service Wednesday
A Community Thanksgiving Worship Service will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road.
The service will be followed by the traditional pie social. The event will include Ecumenical representatives from Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodists, Episcopal, Unitarian and Jewish faiths.
