“Festival of Trees,” Community Connections’ holiday event, will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train Museum, 479 Main Ave.
Admission is free. Participants will view trees and decorations.
11 cadets to graduate from law academy
The Southwest Regional Law Enforcement Academy graduation ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., in Community Room 1.
Eleven cadets will walk the stage, five of whom already have jobs as law enforcement officers. This 18-week-long program includes, but is not limited to, criminal process; judicial process; Colorado criminal code; patrol and investigation techniques; firearms; driving and arrest control.
The next academy will start at Southwest Colorado Community College on Jan. 18. Law Enforcement Academy applications are due Jan. 4.
The academy is housed at the West Campus, 33057 U.S. Highway 160, between Mancos and Cortez.
