Screening of ‘Ladies of the Mines’ Jan. 12
A viewer’s choice screening of “Ladies of the Mines” will take place Jan. 12 in the Vallecito Room of the Fort Lewis College Student Union Building.
The screening is a part of the Colorado Experience series. A reception will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the screening at 6:30 p.m.
Based on the real-life stories of three women who lived in Colorado mining camps at the end of the 19th century, the 30-minute documentary tells of their challenges with “high altitude, groceries delivered by mule train, pack rats and spoiled Thanksgiving turkeys.”
The idea for this episode was submitted by local residents and viewers Rudy and Andy Davison and was chosen through a Rocky Mountain PBS “viewer’s choice” contest. The Davisons will be in attendance, and the show producers, Julie Speer and Mariel Rodriguez-McGill, will join a panel discussion following the screening.
