Zumba with Donna Middleton will offer a free Zumba class at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Core Value Fitness Center, 208 East Animas Road (County Road 250).
This will be a free 90-minute class, and if participants bring a friend, both will receive a free pass for any of Middleton’s future classes. Men, women and children older than 12 years old are invited.

Durango announces city holiday schedule
The following is the holiday schedule for the city of Durango:
City administrative offices will be closed on Friday, including offices at City Hall, River City Hall, police station and substation, Durango Transit Center, Parks & Recreation administrative offices, and Greenmount Cemetery.
Durango-La Plata County Airport administrative offices will be closed Friday. The airport will be operating normally.
Durango Transit will run its normal schedule on Thursday. No transit services will operate on Friday. The parking/transit center office and cashier will be closed Friday.
Meter parking downtown will be free Friday.
Transit will run a normal Saturday schedule on Jan. 2. Three city-wides (Route 6) will run from 7 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., and the trolley will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. One Opportunity bus will run.
The evening bus (Route 6 evening bus which runs from 6:35 to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday) is suspended during the Fort Lewis College winter break and will resume Jan. 11.
The Durango Public Library’s main branch will close at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and will be closed all day Friday. The Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside branches continue to be closed in conjunction with the Durango School District 9-R break and will reopen Jan. 4.
The Durango Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, but will be closed Friday. The center will reopen regular hours on Saturday.
Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday for public skate. The rink will be closed Friday and reopen regular hours on Saturday. To view schedules, visit durangogov.org/chapmanhill.
Chapman Ski Hill will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday. The ski hill will be closed Friday.
The Mason Center will be closed for classes and rentals, reopening Jan. 4. Classes will resume Jan. 4. Preschool Open Gym for ages 1 to 5 will be available on Tuesdays only. Monday, Thursday and Friday preschool open gyms will be closed.
Trash and recycling services will operate normally on Thursday. There will be no trash/recycle services on Friday. Friday’s commercial and residential trash and recycling will be picked up on Thursday. The recycle center will be closed Friday and will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Homebuyer education free class available
The Regional Housing Alliance of La Plata County offers a free monthly Homebuyer Education Class.
The class is an 8-hour program designed to help participants purchase and own a home. Topics will include: buyer readiness; budget/financial management; credit reports and scoring; mortgage lending; working with a real estate agent; homeowners insurance; home inspections; the closing process; home maintenance and foreclosure prevention. The class is facilitated by the alliance with contributions from local professionals such as loan officers, real estate and insurance agents who teach participants about their specific field.
