Bayfield library to host author

In the next installment of the Amazing Authors Series, offered in conjunction with Cortez Public Library and Telluride’s Wilkinson Library, Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, will welcome Pam Houston at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

This series brings award-winning, nationally known authors to the Four Corners for events. Houston and her Irish Wolfhounds William and Olivia will present a reading from her forthcoming work, The Ranch: A Love Story, due out in early 2017.

Food bank seeking board members

The Durango Food Bank is looking for individuals interested in serving on its board of directors.

Board members must be able to attend monthly meetings (10 out of 12 minimum), volunteer monthly for a two-hour food distribution shift, participate and lead one of several committees and make an annual financial contribution (an amount that is significant to them). Interested individuals can email [email protected] to request an application. All applicants will be presented at the annual meeting at the end of January.

Utility refund program available

The city of Durango is accepting applications for the utility refund program. Residents with a total household income for 2015 of $37,400 or less may qualify for the utility refund.

Only residents of the city who owned and occupied a home that receives city utility services, on Dec. 31, and for at least 10 months of 2015, are eligible to file a claim for themselves and all eligible members of their household. The resident filing an application must have occupied property, as an owner, on which city utilities were paid in 2015.

Applications are available at City Hall and the Durango/La Plata Senior Center. The application also is available at www.durangogov.org/rebates, and the form must be submitted by July 1.

Divorce, custody seminar to be held

Doing your own divorce and/or custody in Colorado will be the topic of a seminar at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

The seminar will be presented by Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid. The seminar is free and pre-registration is not required.
