Zia Taqueria will hold a Benefit Day all day Sunday for Durango Instrumental Music Booster Club and Durango High Red Pride Marching Band at both Zia locations, 3101 Main Ave. and 400 South Camino del Rio.

A portion of the day’s proceeds from both Zia locations will be donated to the DHS Red Pride Marching Band New Uniform Fund.

Author to talk about outdoor adventures

Author, climber and BASE jumper Steph Davis will speak about her outdoor adventures across the world at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield.

Davis’ résumé of climbing achievements spans 25 years.

She has established first ascents around the world of difficult rock climbs and high-altitude mountains from Yosemite to the Karakorum. She has written two memoirs, High Infatuation and Learning to Fly and owns and operates Climb2Fly Productions in Moab, Utah.

Climate change topic of discussion

Great Decisions, an international affairs discussion group, will hold its fifth 2016 session on climate change from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. Attendance is free and attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.

The topic discusses the American public’s increasing awareness of the damage wrought by climate change. From droughts in the West to extreme weather in the East, a rapidly changing climate has made its footprint in the U.S.

This event will be led by Curt Johnson, who served as a teacher and administrator from elementary schools through graduate schools.

Legislative Lowdown to be held Saturday

Legislative Lowdown will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 North Main Ave.

Sen. Ellen Roberts, R-Durango, and Rep. J. Paul Brown, R-Ignacio, will speak about the current legislative session, what they expect to accomplish and will answer questions.
