Tom Givón, a Colorado rancher and retired professor of linguistics and cognitive science, will lead a conversation about how diversity is a core ingredient of evolution through natural selection.

He will discuss the parallel between biological and cultural populations; survey the rise of agriculture, surplus-food production and increasingly larger social units; and examine the current academic obsession with diversity and multiculturalism.
