In the past, tax revenues was up and the cemetery operated very well on the small mill levy received. Now, with revenue declining, there isn’t going to be enough in the cemetery’s budget to continue operations as before.
This small increase in mill levy will provide the funding to continue the upkeep on a truly beautiful resting place for loved ones. For less than $5 per year, the board of directors will have the money to repair equipment, trim trees, seal the blacktop and have the manpower to keep everything running smoothly, in addition to paying for the common, basic expenses.
If the cemetery doesn’t get this small increase in the mill levy, the tax revenue can never increase above what it is now, even when property values increase.
We are all proud of the Bayfield Cemetery. I hear compliments about it all the time. Let’s make sure we keep it beautiful!
