So when people ignored public health decrees, declaring them to be arbitrary and in some cases punitive, no one should have been shocked or offended. How in the world can officials across the nation believe that these same individuals are mature enough to stop killing each other just because they are told to? They are not dealing with adults. When citizens regularly refuse the instructions of duly constituted officials, why would anyone believe that race relations will improve and other social issues will go away after a few speeches and a bunch of posts on social media?
Too many Americans are too selfish and too consumed by their own agendas to truly care about the feelings or welfare of others. It was the same in the ’60s. There is plenty of blame to go around. Like President Trump once said. On both sides. Both sides.
