We were accompanied by my grandmother, who was raised in Silverton, and my parents. My father was a captain in the Army Air Corps having recently returned from China.
Ever since that day, Aunt Roberta has held a special place in my heart. Many a day I would call her to visit and hear the whistle of the train as it approached Hermosa. My favorite summer was spent with her and my grandmother.
My uncle was a beekeeper. He took me over the countryside working with his bees, then we would process the honey in his Honey Shack.
Our family will miss her, but our memory of her will live forever.
