Orator, writer and activist Winona LaDuke has a quite the résumé: graduate of Harvard, founder of Honor the Earth, vice presidential candidate (alongside Ralph Nader), prolific author, National Women’s Hall of Fame inductee and longtime advocate for renewable energy, sustainable food systems, Native American culture preservation and environmental justice. LaDuke is coming to Durango this week for a couple of special events. She will give a free presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Fort Lewis College Student Union Ballroom, 1000 Rim Drive, and will attend a luncheon with FLC students on Friday. The presentation, which is the result of a partnership with FLC’s Community Concert Hall and the college’s Native American Center, is free, but tickets are limited to four per person. Visit www.durangoconcerts.com for tickets or more information.
