La Plata County Judge Dondi Osborne has resigned from her position effective July 6, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Colorado Judicial Department.
Former Gov. John Hickenlooper appointed Osborne, a former state and federal prosecutor, to her position in 2017 after a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Martha Minot.
County court judges in Colorado hear traffic cases, minor criminal matters and civil actions involving no more than $15,000, according to the Office of the State Court Administrator.
The initial term for an appointed county judge is two years followed by a retention vote. If voters retain a judge, the term is extended to four years. Osborne has not yet faced a retention vote.
Osborne resigned from her position, according to a spokesman with the Colorado Judicial Department.
Osborne could not immediately be reached for comment.
Candidates for the La Plata County judge position must be a qualified elector in the county and must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado. The salary for the position is $165,795, according to the news release.
A nominating commission plans to meet May 13 to interview candidates for recommendations for appointment.
