So many people visit our town and enjoy the experience so much they choose to move here. Then they choose to try and change the town. If it was so wonderful that they choose to move here, why change it?
As far as Manhattan banning the practice, that should have no bearing on Durango. This is not New York. They banned large sodas as well; Is that really a town we should be emulating? No thank you.
I, myself, as well as my family, enjoy what is left of Durango, as more and more of it is transformed into the very places these new arrivals fled from. I would prefer if others would quit trying to morph Durango into a hybrid California, or New York town. This is a Colorado town; if people prefer the other locations, then simply move there. It is much easier to enjoy those locations organically, where they already exist, rather than spending decades and millions trying to tear down and rebuild Durango into a clone of them.
