The Fort Lewis College football team signed Julio Romo, a transfer from Davenport University, to its 2023 fall roster.
Romo, a native of Colton, California, looks to bolster Fort Lewis’ offensive line with both size and experience. Romo, 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 355 pounds, spent the 2022 season playing Division II ball at Davenport University in Michigan.
Last season, the Panthers boasted an 8-3 overall record and a 4-2 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers reached the opening round of the Division II football playoffs but fell to the eventual national champions, Ferris State (14-1, 5-1 GLIAC), for the second time on the year. Davenport’s only other loss was to Grand Valley State, who was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time.
Romo also played two years at San Bernardino Valley College to begin his collegiate career.
In addition to Romo, the Skyhawks have signed a handful of other players to bolster its roster next season.
Jones brings depth and talent to the quarterback position to FLC. In high school, Jones threw for over 2,200 career yards and 21 touchdowns with a 69.3% (195-281) completion percentage.
Lacroix adds both size and experience to the offensive line. Last season, Lacroix was honored with second-team all-conference honors with the Panthers.
Lasater is another experienced addition to the Skyhawks’ offensive line. Lasater has a year of collegiate football under his belt after playing for NMMI last season.
Roberson will bring speed and experience to the Skyhawks’ secondary. Roberson played in 15 games in two years with the Gauchos. He recorded 35 tackles, featuring 24 solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two interceptions and four pass breakups.
