The “best” stories of 2014 in Durango should be about positive accomplishments that add to our lives – cultural and athletic milestones, Fort Lewis College happenings (grant for new Berndt Hall), inauguration of new construction projects and public works (Mercury Payment building; approval for extending the Bridge to Nowhere; recreation and parks expansions).

Important stories of the year were also successes in the nonprofit community, such as the inauguration of the culinary school at Manna Soup Kitchen, expanded services to veterans by a variety of agencies and many others. What makes Durango a special place that we love is the positive energy that we all contribute and the successes we achieve – not tragic and sensational events.
