The Flight For Life helicopter will be testing a new apparatus to locate beacons of people buried by an avalanche, Knowlton said.

Tall grass will replace snow Saturday as the hiding places for beacons, he said.

La Plata County Search & Rescue is co-sponsoring the tests.
