Getting together for the 31st year of brewing, the Face Plant beer collaboration team includes from left, JP Hope, of Ska Brewing; Kylie Poole, of Steamworks Brewing Co.; Doug Williamson, of Steamworks; Kristen Muraro of Ska; Chris Kurr, of Ska; Stephanie Schnurr, of Ska; Clay Lytle, of Steamworks; Jeff Vierling, of Tailwind Nutrition; Trevor Lovato, of Ska; and Thomas Batson, of Ska (kneeling). A Face Plant beer is brewed each year in recognition of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. This year’s beer is a New Zealand Pilsner brewed with lemon-flavored Tailwind Nutrition. The ABV is 5.5%. It will be packaged and released in early May and will be distributed throughout Durango in time for Iron Horse Bicycle Classic weekend. A New Zealand Pilsner, often called NZ Pils, is basically a modern, hop-forward twist on a classic Pilsner built around New Zealand-grown hops and a slightly more expressive fermentation profile than traditional European versions.
