The Blue Star Moms of Durango assembles care packages for members of the military serving overseas. Recently, the group put together items at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031. From left are: Cindy Bernard, Pat Stone, Betty Wiley, Rhonda Kline, Rob Schultheiss and Demetrius Lewis, who is chairman of the Veterans Committee at the Durango Elks Lodge. The volunteer, nonprofit organization is seeking new members – all types of family members, not only moms – and additional names of people serving overseas. Currently, the group is in need of toiletries and cash donations, which can be dropped off at the VFW Post, 1550 Main Ave., or mailed to Blue Star Moms, P.O. Box 874, Bayfield, CO, 81122.
