Drivers stop on Colorado Highway 172 near the Durango-La Plata County Airport intersection (County Road 309) on Friday. The Colorado Department of Transportation began using the portable traffic signal earlier this week to conduct a crack-sealing project on the highway. Work will take place over the next few weeks from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, weather permitting. Drivers will encounter full stops and lane closures. Up to 15-minute delays are anticipated. Travelers, especially those going to the airport, should allow extra travel time, CDOT says. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
