On the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we should remember that the impetus of the American Revolution was the imposition of taxes on colonial residents by the British Parliament. The colonists opposed “taxation without representation.”
While it is frustrating to many of us to wait for scheduled elections to express our dissatisfaction with current elected officials, resorting to violence will result in even worse outcomes.
We can elect our local, state and federal representatives. Even though you might not agree with the results of elections, those elected are still accountable for their actions. Be patient – support your favorite candidates and vote.
