Let’s think out of the box and celebrate in other ways. Sure, we miss that light in the sky, but we would get over it.

Yes, fireworks are beautiful in their own way, but old habits die hard. Some of the Air Force and Army bases are canceling their fireworks because of security, transportation, safety and overtime pay. There are other ways to celebrate a freedom bash.

Are these fireworks manufactured in America or perhaps other countries like China? Do they provide employment to Americans? Where is the common sense in all this?

It makes my blood boil

When I think how we toil

In all this muck

Of recession

Throw fireworks

In the air

Our dollars without care

Pollute the air

Of our country
