The Daily Sentinel reports that acting department director William Perry Pendley said Thursday that the 27 jobs previously announced remains “the most solid number.”
Officials say the department announced plans earlier this year to move from the District of Columbia to Grand Junction, closer to land locations.
Pendley says the number of available positions hinges on how many Washington employees agree to relocate.
He said some staff are expected to start working at the new location in January.
Officials say it’s been easier to hire in Colorado because of the lower cost of living and shorter commuting times.
