In the aftermath of the attack, the then-Boston police commissioner told a congressional panel that he was never alerted to the initial concerns raised about bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s radical leanings and intention to travel to Russia two years prior to the attack despite Boston’s close association with the task force investigating the bombings.
