Happy Birthday to Eleanor Bonds, who celebrated 100 years on Feb. 27, 2026. A gathering of her four living children, spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a few friends of the family helped her celebrate the momentous occasion.
Born in Phoenix in 1926, she moved to Durango in 1949, where she met and married Wesley Bonds in 1950, and lived in Durango for over 65 years raising their five children. After Wesley’s death in 2015, Eleanor eventually moved to Mancos to live with one of her daughters, where she still lives.
When you consider all that has happened in the last century, she has seen many changes in the world and lived through some very difficult times. But she’s resilient, a warm and loving human and the best mother in the world. Humble beyond measure.
