Orvik Lozano of Bayfield studied at Kwansei Gakuin University in Osaka, Japan. Lozano’s major is chemistry.
Chahlie McDonald of Bayfield studied at Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Australia. McDonald’s major is public health.
Judges needed for science fair
San Juan Board of Cooperative Services is hosting the 58th annual San Juan Basin Regional Science Fair on Thursday, March 3 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango. Judges are needed to interview students and evaluate projects. Volunteers don’t have to be a rocket scientist to judge at the regional science fair; they just need a basic understanding of science and a willingness to talk with students. Missouri S&T announces honor roll
ROLLA, Missouri – Missouri University of Science and Technology announces the names of students who made the honor list for the Fall 2015 semester. Matthew David Knickerbocker of Bayfield, a freshman engineering student, was named to the honor roll. To be included on the honor list, students must have carried a minimum of 12 hours and had grade point averages of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0. Founded in 1870 as the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, Missouri S&T is a public research university of 8,889 students and part of the four-campus University of Missouri System. Cornell College releases deans list
MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Henry Walter of Bayfield was one of over 200 Cornell College students named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2015 semester.

St. Mary’s announces dean’s list
WINONA, Minnesota – William Hahn of Bayfield was named to the first semester, 2015-16 dean’s list at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He is the son of William and Stacy Hahn. The list includes 336 undergraduate students who earned a grade point average of 3.60 or better on a 4.0 scale. Smith admitted to Cornell College
MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Tierzah Smith of Bayfield was admitted to Cornell College for the Fall 2016 semester.
Cornell College, a selective liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is recognized as one of the “Colleges That Change Lives.” The academic immersion of its “One Course At A Time” curriculum allows students to focus on a single academic subject for an 18-day block. Since professors only teach one block at a time, students have more access to professors, and professors can teach students off-campus in whatever venue best fits the material.
