The club’s 10-and-under team finished second out of 13 entrants.
Maggie Holcomb (8) finished first in the 8-and-under 50-meter breaststroke, 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle and took second in the 50-meter backstroke.
Angela McManus (10) took first in the 9-and-10-year-old 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles and second in the 50-meter breaststroke.
Her younger sister, five-year old Aileen McManus, won the 25-meter breaststroke and finished third in the 25-meter backstroke and 25-meter freestyle.
Merin Schmidt (6) won the 25-meter backstroke and 25-meter freestyle.
The 11-and-over section of the club finished sixth out of 12 teams while only competing in one session because they are preparing for a championship-style meet this weekend in Grand Junction.
Haley Benjamin won the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter individual medley, 400-meter freestyle and 400-meter individual medley.
Anne Mummery took first in the 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle.
Iain McCourt finished second in the 1,500-meter swim.
Joci Earl was second in the 200-meter backstroke and third in the 100-meter freestyle.
Lacey Hoselton took third in the 50-meter freestyle, 200-meter breaststroke and 200-meter IM.
Quinn Schmidt finished third in the 400-meter freestyle.
Elli Earl was fourth in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststrokes.
Ruth Holcomb took fourth in the 400-meter freestyle in the first time she ever swam that event.
Steevie Delio finished ninth in the 200-meter IM and 400-meter freestyle.
“We are really looking for long-course experience right now,” DSC head coach Suzanne Schieltz said in an email to The Durango Herald. “We do not have a long-course pool in Durango, and Cortez is one of the closest to us. The kids have been alternating swimming twice a day and adding weights into their program, so they are tired. We are gearing up for some big swims in Grand Junction this weekend.”
