Most people just want to live and let live. I am annoyed by those who continually force their viewpoints on me. I am not inclined to write letters to the paper. I don’t feel that I should have to.
If the City Council would quit meddling in every aspect of our lives, we could lead our lives as we please. I want to do the right things as far as our world and environment are concerned; I don’t want to be burdened by every harebrained idea proposed by every ideological activist with an agenda.
If the City Council actually wants to know how the residents feel about this issue, it should put it on the next election ballot. The public hearing that will be overly padded with like-minded constituents is hardly a good litmus test of the issue.
I hope that the majority of Durango’s residents will continue to write letters of opposition and hopefully show up at the public hearing and testify against the unneeded, ill-conceived, ineffective and possibly illegal ban.
