An 8-3 mark and a share of the Southwestern League title ensured Durango High School football was well represented come all-conference time.

Five Demons earned first-team selections, and three more were tabbed for the honorable mention list on the All-SWL team.

Blake Dunlap, Daniel Gustavson, Isiah Mayberry, Robert Moore and Westly Moore were first-team choices, while Shane Bisogno, Casey Dunlap and Jeremy Szura were honorable mentions.

Not surprisingly, the defensive side of the ball was well represented after DHS held opponents to an average of 13.6 points per game.

Blake Dunlap had 123 yards receiving and a touchdown offensively in the regular season to go with four interceptions and 87 on the defensive side of the ball, and he also handled the team’s placekicking and punt-return duties.

Gustavson, a two-time selection to the first team, led the Demons in sacks with 8.0 and chipped in 62 total tackles through 10 games for DHS.

Mayberry, also a two-time pick to the first team, led DHS with 98 tackles and chipped in a sack on defense and 109 rushing yards on offense.

Robert Moore was a mainstay on a quality offensive line that helped the Demons average 209.7 yards rushing per game.

Westly Moore had 76 tackles for Durango, and the senior was second on the Demons with 4.0 sacks.

Bisogno had a sack and 71 total tackles for what proved to be a formidable corps of linebackers for Durango in 2013.

Casey Dunlap, the lone all-league selection set to return next year for DHS, had 67 tackles and three interceptions on defense to go with four receiving touchdowns on offense.

Szura ran for 433 yards and threw for 383 as Durango’s quarterback in the regular season, and he chipped in a pair of interceptions and a fumble recovery on defense.

Tyler Heinsma and Tanner Griffin of Grand Junction were named the league’s top offensive and defensive players, respectively, and Montrose head coach Todd Casebier earned the SWL’s top coaching honor for leading his squad to a share of the league title and a runner-up finish in the Class 4A playoffs.
