Trump will have control of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of our government, and as we all learned in high school, are supposed to act as checks and balances on one another. He has also threatened our independent media, whose failure to resist his intimidation will give him complete control of our country.
Unless you realize that you have “thrown out the baby with the bath water,” your children may well grow up under an insidious dictatorship instead of the “one man, one vote” vision of our ancestors. Hilary Clinton won the popular vote by more than 2 million votes. Al Gore won it in 2000. We could have been the country to definitively lead the world in renewable energy. We would not have started the war in Iraq. Instead, we now have a president-elect who will withdraw us from the Paris climate accords, gut the Environment Protection Agency, Social Security and Medicare, and who openly admires Russia’s Vladimir Putin and discredits our long-time allies. Trump does have it right about the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Good for him!
So, to all of you who voted for change, but are not racists, bigots, xenophobes or misogynists, it’s not too late. Join the majority of voters who voted to protect our planet and to follow the Golden Rule. Tame the beast with tolerance and trust.
