The program, “From Mesa Verde to Santa Fe: Pueblo Identity in the Southwest,” examines more than 4,000 years of Native American history through field trips, archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analyses, readings and lectures. Institute scholars will spend several days exploring archaeology, ethnology and oral history at Mesa Verde National Park and historic Pueblo and Spanish colonial sites in northern New Mexico.
The submission deadline for applications is March 1. Accepted applicants will be notified of their selection on April 7 and receive a $2,700 stipend to cover travel and living expenses. The program also offers up to six hours of graduate-level college credit through Colorado School of Mines.
All interested participants are invited to apply; previous anthropology or archaeology experience is not required.
