City crews are working to finish replacing an old waterline below the Animas River near Camino del Rio and 12th Street.
The crews started the work in March, but it had to come to a halt because of rising water, said City Operations Director Levi Lloyd.
The city waited to put in the remaining half of the new line until after rafting season had ended, he said.
Work restarted last week, and it should be completed by Oct. 6.
The work is estimated to cost $112,000.
The maintenance is unrelated to a leaking water service line that caused an outage in the same area during August, Lloyd said.
