A total of 77 volunteer spots at 11 different locations around Durango need to be filled. Shifts are 7 to 9 a.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday or noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Accurate data helps the city know how infrastructure is being used and is necessary to secure grant funding for projects such as sidewalk repair, bicycle facilities and transit system improvements. The counts will be used to update a national database of bicycle and pedestrian count information, provide analysis on the correlations of bicycle and pedestrian activity and local characteristics, strengthen grants for bicycle and pedestrian related funding and update performance measures for the city’s Multimodal Transportation Plan.
