Colorado State Patrol officials say 53-year-old Alberto Torres is being charged with careless driving that caused bodily injury in the Thursday morning crash about 90 miles south of Colorado Springs.

Authorities did not list a hometown for Torres and it’s not clear whether he has an attorney.

Patrol officials said in a statement the charter bus lost control on an icy stretch of Interstate 25 outside Walsenburg.

It’s not immediately clear how many passengers were injured. The highway patrol’s statement says the injuries range from minor to life-threatening.

Patrol officials say excessive speed for the roadway conditions is considered a factor.
