Durango Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Durango Area Association of Realtors, La Plata County Energy Council and the Home Builders Association of SW Colorado in 2016 to hire a governmental affairs liaison position. The purpose of the governmental affairs position is to monitor, observe and report on city council, city planning, county commissioners and county planning meetings. The executive directors are notified to any discussions or actions that could impact any or all of the organizations, and the liaison maximizes the executive directors time management.
