Candidates will express their positions on issues important to La Plata County and the state. There will be questions taken from the audience.
Tiffany Lee Parker, La Plata County clerk and recorder, will give an overview of the ballot initiatives that will be on the ballot. Locally, there are proposed tax increase measures for the Durango and Bayfield School Districts, the Airport terminal expansion, and a Road and Bridge Improvements initiative.
Representatives from various issues may be present to answer questions informally after the forum.
Candidates planning to attend are State Rep. J. Paul Brown and challenger Barbara McLachlin. Also attending are county commissioners and challengers Julie Westendorff and Kayla Story Patterson and Gwen Lachelt and Kyle McKnight.
There will be refreshments and the public is invited.
