The Four Corners Film Office announces Lisa Schwantes as the organization’s new coordinator.

Schwantes will assist the office in its role as a liaison between production companies and the community. She also will track the economic impact of the productions taking place in the area, the number of local jobs created and businesses used during productions.

Schwantes will continue working with the Colorado Office of Film Television & Media and associations with other area film commissions, chambers, tourism offices and economic-development groups in Colorado and the surrounding Four Corners states. She currently works with other area organizations, including the La Plata Economic Development Alliance and Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center. She has a degree in communications and has worked for the Durango Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Health Advisory Council and the U.S. Senate.

Durango Rocks awards nominations open

Nominations are being sought for the 2013 Durango Rocks awards, which will take place Jan. 23 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.
