Current State Rep. Mike McLachlan has represented us well at the state Capitol. He has sponsored bills to support and recognize our military veterans. And he voted with the overwhelming majority of Coloradans to support a common-sense bill to prevent guns from falling into the hands of the wrong people. Groups like Rocky Mountain Gun Owners would like you to think the background-check bill represents a significant restriction of our Second Amendment rights. In reality, no guns have been taken because of this law. No gun registry has been created and the gun manufacturers that pledged to leave the state if this law was passed have stayed. Why? Because the scare tactics surrounding the bill from RMGO and the NRA have proved to be false. Background checks keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill. We do not want another Aurora or Columbine. We want children to be safe at school. We want to feel safe knowing that guns will not fall into the hands of the wrong people.
This common-sense leadership is the leadership Mike McLachlan has provided. Please reject J. Paul Brown’s attempt to return to the Legislature. He failed once; don’t allow him to fail again. Please join me in supporting Mike McLachlan for another term representing State House District 59.
