The crossing attempt occurred Monday near the Santa Teresa Port of Entry west of El Paso, Texas, the Border Patrol said Wednesday in a statement.

The statement didn’t specify what objects were thrown at agents or mention any injuries.

“Recent trends continue to show increasingly large groups being apprehended” by agents in or near Santa Teresa or nearby Sunland Park, the statement said.

A group of about 75 people attempted to illegally enter the country Nov. 5 near Sunland Park but their entry was prevented with cooperation with Mexican authorities, the statement said.
