Right after the planning meeting, they will have a special business meeting to consider license fees for both medical and retail (recreational) marijuana businesses.
At the planning meeting, the commissioners will consider a proposed Land Use Code amendment to delete separate marijuana land use permit regulations and instead permit those businesses under the same land use provisions as other projects.
Then at the business meeting, they will consider proposed licensing fees for medical and retail marijuana businesses. The BOCC also will have second reading and formal consideration of Ordinance 2014-02, which will adopt amendments to chapter 7 of the La Plata County Code. These will regulate and allow for the licensing of all medical marijuana businesses allowed under Amendment 20 to the state constitution, and all retail marijuana businesses allowed under Amendment 64.
The ordinance also will rescind the ban on medical marijuana centers (dispensaries) in the county, and the temporary ban on all retail marijuana establishments.
